We welcome the year 2019 with the best wishes for all people. May peace and health be your companions.
Preparations for the popular city festival "Luther's Wedding" are in full swing. Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors witness the historic moment of June 13, 1525, when the former monk Martin Luther and the escaped nun Katharina von Bora gave the floor.
For more than 20 years, the Wittenbergers have been remembering the feast of Luther's wedding. Also year 2019, the LIONS Club Lutherstadt Wittenberg will be there from the 14th to the 16th of June 2019 with a booth on the market of the city. We look forward to your visit.
On March 5, 2017, the Monument of Bravery and Civil Courage, financed by the LIONS Club Lutherstadt Wittenberg and other LIONS Organizations worldwide, was inaugurated in the Lutherhof of Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The freestanding sculpture is reminiscent of the forging action "Swords to Plowshares" from the year 1983.
2017 is a special year for the LIONS Club Lutherstadt Wittenberg in two respects, we celebrate the LIONS International 100th anniversary and as the LIONS Club Lutherstadt Wittenberg, we will participate in the The Reformation 500th anniversary celebration. The common link between Luther and LIONS are the beliefs in Shaping the Future – Preserve Civil Courage.
The LIONS Club financially supports the seniors' online initiative of the denkmal oasis in Wittenberg, the LEOS (youth organization of the LIONS) volunteers in the project. Every 14 days it says in the Wittenberger denkmal oasis: "Together against lonely - even online". Young people from the LEO Club have prepared laptops, tablets and smartphones to explain the handling of the devices and the first steps into the online world to interested senior citizens from Wittenberg.
